PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Under on-site guidance of the Charge Nurse, the Qualified Nursing Assistant supplies personal care and supervision to locals in a way conducive to their security, convenience, security and the greatest degree of self-reliance possible. Operates within the parameters of each resident’s care plan and day-to-day schedule as figured out by the interdisciplinary team, and within the practice limitations of certification.

NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow recognized efficiency standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.
  • Perform resident care techniques and procedures according to certification instruction, in-service education, or direction from manager.
  • Identify resident problems and issues and report them right away to a charge nurse or a certified nurse.
  • Conduct resident rounds as designated.
  • Initiate restorative action as essential and/or seek support of a licensed nurse.

Certifications:

Education/Certification/License:

  • Present, valid Iowa Nursing Assistant Certification, as evidenced by noting on Iowa’s Nurse Aide Computer system registry or paperwork of effective completion of competency and skills tests from an approved testing firm.

Understanding:

  • None

Experience:

  • None

Skills/Abilities:

  • Functional Literacy in written and spoken English.
  • Competent social relationships and communication skills.
  • Capability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Total projects prompt, entirely and precisely.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:

Authority is entrusted to the individual in this position to:

  • Provide care to citizens following facility policies and treatments.
  • Report locals’ needs and issues to a certified nurse.
