Chinese citizen journalist sentenced for reporting early on COVID

Beijing — A Chinese court on Monday sentenced a previous attorney who reported on the early stage of the coronavirus break out to 4 years in prison on charges of “choosing battles and provoking trouble,” one of her legal representatives said. In the early days of the outbreak, authorities reprimanded several Wuhan medical professionals for “rumor-mongering” after they signaled good friends on social media.

Individually, Firm France Presse reports China has put on trial 10 of 12 pro-democracy activists who tried to get away Hong Kong by speedboat for sanctuary in Taiwan.
