Working under the guidance of a nursing, the CNA performs various patient care activities necessary in taking care of the personal needs and comfort of patients. The position’s jobs and obligations include:

  • Showers, dresses/undresses patients assist with individual hygiene.
  • Serves and gathers food trays. Assists with client feeding.
  • Transports, positions and drapes clients for examinations and treatments.
  • Assists patients in ambulating.
  • Takes and tape-records important indications, weights and I & O.
  • Carries out non sterile dressing changes.
  • Passes and collects bed pans.
  • Modifications bedding.
  • Supplies motivation, assistance and convenience to patients and family members.
  • Displays, records and communicates client condition as appropriate utilizing electronic documentation systems.
  • Supplies age and culturally suitable care.
  • Orients and mentors new employee.
  • Follows Standard Precautions utilizing personal protective equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and accreditation.
  • Effective completion of a nursing assistant training program
  • State certification as a CNA
  • Previous health center experience chosen
  • Working understanding of medical terms.
  • Client service abilities consisting of effective listening abilities.
  • Capability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to perform work that requires regular standing, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, moving, lifting of clients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
