Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) acts as caretaker to the local during the scheduled work duration in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and everyday living assistance to designated local under the guidance of a signed up nurse (RN). Knowledge of and provides age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological requirements of the resident as per care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to know, and will be held liable for, following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment usage. Supplies assistance with basic health care requirements including everyday living activities that might include, but are not restricted to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, getting and taping important signs, and offering psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned homeowner. Assists the local in moving, rearranging, and walking using appropriate and suitable transfer methods and equipment and also offers range of motion and passive exercises. Completes jobs related to food preparation and dining, while producing a favorable dining experience for the citizen. Assists homeowners with meals and treats, offers water and supplements as proper.
The NA aids suppliers and nursing staff members with procedures, if required. Documents resident interactions as required and the results associated with resident care, habits, activity, and dietary. Communicates citizen’s changing condition and care associated concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital indications. Offers housekeeping and laundry services to help locals with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides help and documents with health and leisure programs and motivates homeowners to get involved. Might take part in departmental/organization committees and task forces as required.
Certifications
High school graduate or basic equivalency diploma (GED) chosen, but not required.
Minimum age of16 Prior scientific or nursing assistant experience in long-lasting care preferred.
Needed Licensed Nursing Assistant (CNA) accreditation with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within 4 months of date into the position by being registered in a training program or in the procedure of acquiring certification through Endorsement. CNA training and accreditation needed and provided by center.
Adequately completes yearly department specific proficiency testing and keeps a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required every year. Preserves all department particular required accreditations.
When applicable, for appropriate states, accredited and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Individual (UAP) Computer Registry.
Dependent on facility and required obligations, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Chauffeur requiring a motor
lorry report and proof of valid motorist’s license. Likewise should be clinically qualified to carry out the important driving functions of
this position based on our Sanford Driving Policy per the leaders request.
