A New York City councilman said he and his household delighted in an 11- individual Thanksgiving Day holiday, complete with turkey, kids playing outdoors and an enormous cutout photo of Governor Andrew Cuomo leering in their front window. Cuomo’s face had currently become a social media meme after numerous New Yorkers complained he was attempting to micromanage their holiday in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
Borelli, a Republican councilman representing New York City’s District 51 in the mainly conservative district of Staten Island, informed the New York Post “We all had a laugh” at the large Cuomo head viewing over their supper and festivities.

Borelli and other Cuomo critics noted that recently the Democratic governor said he would invest his Thanksgiving with his 89- year-old mom and his children, which triggered accusations of hypocrisy.
” Our neighbors got it for us as a joke– they stuck it to the window and called the bell,” stated Borelli, who has led a few of the harshest criticism of Cuomo’s social distancing procedures ahead of the holiday. On November 11, Borelli promised he would hold a big Thanksgiving regardless of the governor or Mayor Bill De Blasio’s so-called executive orders.
” My address is public record,” the GOP councilman composed in a tweet published previously this month, upping the ante on Cuomo’s hazards to enforce the pandemic policies. “Sis-in-law will bring strawberry rhubarb pie, & a turkey will be overcooked.”
Borelli’s online criticism and apparently bold position was not popular by lots of New Yorkers who stated it was a “stunt” that eventually might injure the well-being of others in his neighborhood. Earlier this month, Borelli penned an opinion piece in the New York City Daily News tabloid which checked out, “Sorry, gov: I’m hosting a huge Thanksgiving.”
But the very same New york city paper’s editorial board composed a follow-up op-ed advising its readers, “Do not resemble Borelli: Staten Island’s Joe dangers lives to make a debating point.”
” Borelli’s gripe represents a typically heard frustration and there’s absolutely nothing wonderful about the Cuomo-imposed number. Why ‘d the governor set it at 10 and not 12 regardless of a house’s capability, or not simply advise households to believe seriously about who they have over for the vacations, without purporting to impose an inarguably unenforceable mandate? Legitimate concerns to ask but Borrelli gets to the incorrect response,” the editorial board composed.
Newsweek connected to Borelli and Cuomo’s workplace Saturday early morning for any extra remarks.
