POSITION TITLE: Licensed Nurse Aide (C.N.A.)
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
REPORTS TO: DON/Charge Nurse
POSITION FUNCTION:
Makes sure that citizen’s personal care requirements are being met in accordance with Citizens’ dreams and Care Plan Objectives
VITAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Responses signal lights, bell, or intercom system to identify homeowners’ requirements and nurses call lights are within reach of homeowner
- Ensures that homeowners’ who are not able to call for assistance are checked regularly
- Gives direct homeowners as essential in their activities of everyday living
- Describes procedures to residents
- Helps homeowners as necessary in their activities of everyday living
- Assists residents with bowel and bladder functions
- Assists locals in preparation for and transporting to consultations, activities and social programs
- Assists with lifting, placing and transferring homeowners into and out of beds, chairs, bath tubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc, in keeping with specific resident’s safety requirements
- Provides incontinent care as needed
- Gowns resident proper to the current weather condition
- Informs Supervisor if resident needs clothes
- Changes bed linens
- Manages linens according to infection control standards
- Feeds citizens requiring help and record meal consumption
- Provides and records all treat and supplements
- Provides fluids to citizens often to make sure that locals are hydrated where designated by care plan
- Evaluations and executes daily nursing as described by resident Care Strategy or nurse supervisors
- Transports locals or assists citizens with movement needs
- Turns and rearranges bedfast homeowners, alone or with help
- Takes and tape-records temperatures, high blood pressure, pulse rates, respiration rates, height, weight, and food and fluid consumption and output, as directed
- Monitors resident’s activities and reports any abnormalities of resident efficiency to nurse managers
- Reports all modifications in locals’ conditions to supervisor
- Cleans instruments and equipment and returns to correct area after use
- Keeps tidiness of homeowners’ units, central bathing area, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets
- Provides post-mortem care as advised
- Properly records all care as directed
- Takes part and attends routine in-services and personnel conference
- Understands and abides by the guidelines of “Citizens Rights”
- Perform extra duties as appointed
Education/requirements:
Capability to communicate with homeowners and nursing staff. Ability to speak, read, and write English. Prior experience as LTC nursing assistant preferred, or comparable combination of education and experience. Successful conclusion of State Approved Nursing Assistant Training and Proficiency Assessment Program. Excellent Standing in the state pc registry is needed.
