Almost a year into the pandemic, numerous public schools are still near in-person direction. But while there is increasing proof that schools are not a major source of infection, teachers and staffers stay worried about going back to class before they are immunized.
Meanwhile, people who have lost their health insurance will have another opportunity to sign up under the Affordable Care Act beginning Feb. 15.
This week’s panelists are Julie Rovner of Kaiser Health News, Margot Sanger-Katz of The New York Times, Alice Miranda Ollstein of Politico and Anna Edney of Bloomberg News.
Amongst the takeaways from today’s podcast:
About 40%are open and, while lots of public health officials are in favor of keeping schools open, they acknowledge that the coronavirus variants being found will require to be viewed closely to make sure they don’t posture a hazard to kids and adults in schools.
Likewise this week, Rovner interviews KHN’s Cara Anthony, who composed the current KHN-NPR “ Bill of the Month” feature– about a couple and their newborn and a really arcane insurance rule. If you have an outrageous medical bill you wish to show us, you can do that here
Plus, for additional credit, the panelists recommend their favorite health policy stories of the week they think you should check out, too:
Julie Rovner: The Lily’s “ The Latest Pandemic Work for Women? Snagging Vaccine Visits for Their Parents,” by Soo Youn
Anna Edney: Stat’s “ Trump Officials Actively Lobbied to Deny States Money for Vaccine Rollout Last Fall,” by Nicholas Florko
