The featured speakers for this discussion are Dawn Worsley, President of NCCAP and Anne Ellett, N.P., M.S.N, Founder and Director of Memory Care Support. This webinar acknowledges the extraordinary time we are living in, while striving to continue to provide quality of care and engagement for people living with dementia (PLWD). The safety of residents and staff must be the priority, but it is still possible to offer meaningful engagements in a personalized way to PLWD. Thoughtful strategies for pausing and looking at quality over quantity of experiences will be discussed. To decrease risk of spreading infection, group activities are not allowed, but examples will be given of one-on-one engagements or activities allowing for social distancing.
At the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Identify techniques for assessing individual interests and strengths of each PLWD
• Describe the benefits that PLWD may receive from personalized engagements
• Develop strategies for small group activities will maintaining safe social distance to decrease risk of contagion
