Demetrius Dallas is the father of six children ages 5, 11, 15, 16, 17 and a newborn. Demetrius came to the Fatherhood Project in 2018 with the hope of securing custody of one of his daughters and his two sons. Eventually with the help of the Fatherhood Project, he successfully completed the Nurturing Fathers Class and gained legal custody of his other children. He has been a state-certified nurse’s aide since 2001 and is employed at the Chateau at Mountain Crest facility, assisting males who have behavioral problems. He also serves as a caregiver for his mother in-law who suffered a stroke in 2015 and is living with the family. Demetrius is a devoted father, involved in every aspect of his children’s lives but he is also an asset to the community. He established Community Cycles to give neighborhood kids access to bikes. He was recently honored as a recipient of the “Champion of Health Equity Award” from WE THRIVE! Community Wellness in Action for this work.
