For a certification test to be possible there needs to be sufficient nurses practising in the specialty. This ensures a minimum number of test writers each year. At this time, five certification exams– gastroenterology, neuroscience, orthopedic, perianesthesia and rehabilitation– are thought about no longer sustainable for CNA.
