For the first time in more than a year, there were no COVID-19 patients at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital on Thursday morning, according to ABC 7

“I did have tears in my eyes!” Dr. Monica Gandhi told ABC 7 of the numbers.

This milestone comes as San Francisco relaxed its public health order even more on Thursday, taking a few more steps toward fully reopening with the city in the least stringent yellow tier.

Here are several ways San Francisco is relaxing COVID restrictions

-People no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to get into seated performances and sporting events such as Giants games.

-People are also no longer required to be seated at a restaurant or bar to receive service. “Patrons may stand and consume beverages while at stationary entertainment like pool tables, or arcade games, in groups of up to eight people with at least six- foot distancing between groups, consistent with indoor dining guidelines,” according to the city’s revised public health order.

-Rules were relaxed for personal care services and you can remove your mask if you’re receiving a massage or getting tattoo or piercing in the mouth area.

-Real estate open houses can resume by following the rules for small indoor gatherings.

-Houses of worship can establish sections for fully vaccinated congregants that do not require physical distancing.

“San Francisco is looking more and more every day like the vibrant city that it always has been,” Mayor London Breed. “We have shown the world how resilient we are, and now we’re on the road to recovery. As we approach the last phases of reopening, we will keep doing all we can to build back all of the best parts of our city so that all of us can thrive. We are ready to do this with the same urgency, partnership with the community, and commitment to equity that we have had throughout this pandemic.”

San Francisco moved into the yellow tier earlier this month, and allowed many activities to reopen and businesses to expand capacity, but continued to impose rules that were more strict than state guidelines in place. By loosening restrictions on May 20, it aligned more closely with the state.

California is slated to fully reopen its economy on June 15 and while the state hasn’t released specifics on what a complete reopening looks like, S.F. city officials said in a statement that they’re moving “to increase the level of activity and the flexibility in operating under current guidelines so that the city continues to progress smoothly towards a full reopening.”
