In 2019, immigrant households nationwide earned $1.7 trillion, allowing them to pay $492.4 billion in federal, state, and local taxes and holding $1.3 trillion in spending power. Despite this, many foreign-born workers have limited English skills and unrecognized foreign credentials, which limit their ability to gain personally meaningful employment with livable wages. In response, IINE developed industry-specific skills-training programs, including a Healthcare Services Certificate Program (HSCP), Certified Nursing Assistant program (CNA for Success), and a new Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Facilities Maintenance and Construction Trades. The programs make it possible for New Americans to enter industries with family-sustaining wages, good benefits, and opportunities for advancement.
